17th May... [Apr. 21st, 2009|09:09 pm]
[mood | optimistic]

[info]wretch79 will be 30 on the 18th (Monday) so the plan is to have a joint do with Ruby who will be 3 and [info]rich_jacko who will be 30 again, just like last year, on the 17th May. We are hoping for good weather and were thinking picnic in the park near Blake street with associated adult drinks for those who want them, and cheese on a stick/ snacks for all ages, does this suit everyone?

I know May is birthday mayhem so am trying to sort the wretched one a do as he normally doesn't bother in the face of many other May parties, however his family don't really celebrate birthdays and I would like to make this one a good one with or without his assistance. For his pressie I have bought him an experience day flying a Tiger Moth vintage plane so will mostly be wrapping up a pound shop gift on his birthday!

Computer advice needed! [Mar. 1st, 2009|04:45 pm]
[mood | confused]

Help! For no apparent reason I am able to do everything normal on my computer internet-wise except go into my Hotmail messages. I can log on, be shown the messages, but if I try to click on messages, read them or delete them, it goes back to the top of the front page. The same thing happens when I click on page two, back to the top of page one.

Even more bizarre it is not a hotmail problem as I am able to log on to any other computer and use hotmail as normal. All other internet stuff works (I have posted this from my computer), it is only hotmail which seems to be affected.

I have up to date antivirus and have scanned everything but no apparent problems showing.

Help- does anyone know how to use powerpoint? [Apr. 27th, 2006|08:10 pm]
[mood | creative]

Needing helpful hints, tis the husband's birthday soon and after trawling through two card shops and finding nothing suitable I decided to make said husband a power point presentation card with pictures and cunningly moving fonts and stuff.

Slight problems with this

a) only ever made one power point before and whilst it was suitable for intended person it was for a two year old who is not overly critical

b) can't figure out how to do anything to font other than make it a different colour.

I need helpful hint and any nice pictures of friends to add in

Have just noticed the word friends is one letter away from the word fiends. Does that amuse anyone else?!?

Fact of the day [Apr. 17th, 2006|10:35 am]
[mood | impressed]

In a vaguely intellectual mood and found this fact when playing froggy top trumps (I did say vaguely!)

The tomato frog:

If bitten by a snake the frog reacts by producing a white goo which temporarily glues the snake's mouth together!

How cool!

(no subject) [Mar. 15th, 2006|08:03 pm]
[mood | disappointed]

Ben (nephew) made it home today from the special care baby unit (hurray!!!)

On an "oh poo" as I have a stinking cold we can't go see him this weekend.

Any good ideas for presents for a newborn?

Better day! [Feb. 8th, 2006|08:27 pm]
[mood | contemplative]

Had a much better day today, met my student who starts next week and will be with me till the end of June (big scary responsibility gibber gibber) and seemed to get on okay, he doesn't seem to be a nutter but I'm sure he'll fit in anyway.

Got home late from work and hubby had cooked tea! I'm so glad I taught him to cook! Worryingly he's getting better than I am, still, at least when I'm old and mad (preferably with 18 incontinent cats) he won't have to eat meals on wheels.

glitterybint: 5891, beat that for tomorrow!

I miss my car! [Feb. 7th, 2006|07:11 pm]
[mood | stressed]

Had a fab day off, spent a large chunk of it with glitterybint in town which was great, had a healthy lunch and everything!

Popped in to see the man of mystery who was poorly sick (this is what happens when your other half has the lurgie) then got the tram home...

...or so was the plan, what actually happened was I waited 30 minutes in the rain for a tram, it was packed so had to stand all the way, my phone wouldn't turn back on so couldn't ring wretch79 who bless him had organised to meet me and there were no public payphones!

A very sweet lady let me ring home but no answer, he'd already set off! And could I remember his mobile number? Nope.

After waiting for 20 minutes at the stop I thought I should be at (surprise surprise wretch79 was expecting me somewhere else!) I walked to the next stop and waited another 20 minutes for a tram- no payphone in sight how do people without mobile phones manage?)

Eventually walked the two miles or so into Killamarsh from Halfway and found a payphone managing to remember hubby's mobile number on the third go (as the mobile phone still wouldn't turn on) he picked me up where I promptly threw a strop then burst into tears.

Poor blokey!

Super blokey then left me at home with a mini bottle of wine whilst he did the shopping.

Note to self buy husband present for putting up with me.

don't like dogs! [Feb. 4th, 2006|06:26 pm]
[mood | hungry]

Staying at my parents for the weekend and have realised how much I dislike big dogs, they have a year old red setter and he play bites, jumps up and is generally beastly whilst wagging his entire body and saying the doggy version of "admire me, I'm such a pretty mutt". All I hear is whomp whomp whomp!

Mouse fetching cats suddenly seem such a good prospect!

Have been babysitting the nephew (he's such a cutie!) My brothers second is due in ten weeks so poor Jack (sister in law) is feeling understandibly tired!

Mum is cooking something that smells divine (how come mother's cooking is always so fabulous?). Birthday tea for my other brother who is the grand old age of 16 (okay it makes me feel a little old but we won't go there)

Ian is being quiet, best go and see what he is up to!
